Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to the questions we hear most often from our users. Tap a question to reveal the answer.

What are the benefits of using this app?
  • You can block ads across a wide range of browser apps.
  • Web pages load faster because fewer unnecessary ads are fetched.
  • Websites become easier to read without being buried in ads.
  • It also blocks trackers and known harmful domains, reducing security risks.
  • With fewer ad-related requests, you can save on data usage.
How does the app block ads?

Ad Blocker Pro blocks ads by cutting off communication to the domains used to deliver ads and trackers at the "DNS" level. In addition, the app's built-in browser also uses a content filter that hides ad elements within the page. All of this processing is completed on your device, and the contents of your communications are never sent to an external server.

Which operating systems and devices are supported?

Android and iOS (iPhone / iPad) are supported. You can use it on both smartphones and tablets. Some features may be limited depending on your OS version.

Why does the app need a VPN connection (permission)?

This app uses a local VPN in order to block ads in all browsers. Its role is explained below.

  • DNS query filtering: The app blocks ads by filtering DNS queries.
  • Local VPN: On Android, a VPN service permission is required in order to filter DNS queries. However, this app's VPN is different from a typical VPN that connects to an external VPN server. It is called a "local VPN" and operates entirely within your device without using a VPN server. As a result, the contents of your communications are never transmitted externally.
  • Protecting your privacy: This local VPN does not collect any browsing information. It does not record your internet usage history, nor does it share it with third parties.

DNS query filtering using a local VPN is an effective and safe way to block ads in all browsers.

The blocking function sometimes turns off unexpectedly.
  • Beware of other VPN / blocker apps:
When another VPN or ad-blocker app tries to start its own VPN connection, this app's VPN connection may be terminated, turning the blocking function off. Especially if it turns off just by opening the notification panel (quick panel), please check whether you have a tile for another VPN / ad-blocking app in the quick panel, and consider removing it.
  • Beware of battery-saving features (Android):
Battery-saving features may cause the app to be terminated. To avoid this, set battery optimization to "Unrestricted" in the app's "Battery" settings.
Ads are not blocked and still appear. Why?

Please check whether any of the following apply.

  • The blocking function is turned off
  • It is a type of ad that is difficult to block by design
  • A cache of a previously shown ad remains
  • A temporary issue with your device
  • Your browser's DNS settings are conflicting with the blocking function

[How to clear the browser cache (Android)]

  1. Press and hold the browser app icon and tap "App info".
  2. Tap "Storage & cache".
  3. Tap "Clear cache".
Notes on your browser's DNS settings

If no ads are blocked at all in a browser such as Chrome, the browser's own DNS setting (Secure DNS) may be conflicting with this app's blocking function. Please check the following.

  1. Open the Chrome app.
  2. From the menu at the top right, select "Settings".
  3. Tap "Privacy and security".
  4. Tap "Use secure DNS".
  5. Select "Use your current service provider".

If ads are still not blocked at all, please turn off "Use secure DNS". If you specify another provider's DNS (such as OpenDNS) under "Choose another provider", this app's ad blocking will not work correctly. Browsers and apps other than Chrome may also have their own DNS settings, so if blocking is not working, please check the DNS settings of each app as well.

Some ads are not blocked.

Some ads are delivered from the same domain as the content itself, or are embedded directly within videos. Such ads cannot be stopped by DNS filtering, which blocks communication to external domains (pre-roll ads on major video sites are a typical example). We continuously update our filters so that we can block as much as possible within what is technically feasible.

Blank spaces sometimes remain on a web page. Won't they disappear?

Normally, ads are placed mixed in with the page's content. When an ad's display element is removed, the space it occupied may remain blank, or the layout may shift and move other elements. This is also a sign that the ad was correctly blocked.

Why is the block count higher than the number of ads I actually saw?

Many apps and sites communicate in the background. This app blocks not only the ads you can see but also trackers and the like contained in such background communication. In addition, a single ad may generate multiple DNS queries, each of which becomes a block target. That is why the block count can appear higher than the ads you actually saw.

Does the app have a built-in browser?

Yes. Ad Blocker Pro includes a built-in browser optimized for ad blocking. In addition to DNS filtering, it also hides ad elements within the page, enabling more comfortable browsing with fewer ads. You can of course continue to use your usual browser as well.

Is there a monthly fee?

No. This app is a one-time purchase, with no monthly or annual billing. No charges arise beyond the initial purchase.

What is the difference between the free version and the paid (Pro) version?

The free version is intended to let you try out the ad-blocking effect before buying, and is available for a limited period. To use all features without any period or restriction, please purchase the paid version (Pro). Because it is a one-time purchase, there are no additional charges once you have bought it.

Do you collect personal information or browsing history?

No. Ad filtering is completed entirely on your device, and we do not collect or transmit the sites or apps you visit, or the contents of your communications. Statistics such as the block count are also stored only on your device. For details, please see our Privacy Policy.

Can it reduce my data usage?

Yes. By suppressing the loading of ads and unnecessary trackers, you can reduce the amount of data per page, which in turn helps save mobile data. The more ads a site has, the greater the effect.

Where can I report bugs or request features?

Please contact us from the app's Settings → Contact, or email us directly at ifeeqp2002+adblocker@gmail.com. Including your device model, OS version, and the site or situation where the issue occurs will help us respond more smoothly.
