Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to the questions we hear most often from our users. Tap a question to reveal the answer.

What are the benefits of using this app?
  • You can block ads on web pages in the built-in browser and in Safari.
  • "DNS protection" blocks connections to trackers and encrypts your DNS traffic, protecting your privacy.
  • Web pages load faster because fewer unnecessary ads are fetched.
  • Websites become easier to read without being buried in ads.
  • With fewer ad and tracker requests, you can save on data usage.
How does the app block ads?

In the built-in browser, Ad Blocker Pro blocks and hides ad elements within the page through content filtering. In Safari, it blocks ads using the content-blocker and web-extension mechanisms provided by Apple. All of this processing is completed on your device, and the contents of your communications are never sent to an external server.

Which operating systems and devices are supported?

This page covers the iOS version (iPhone / iPad). The Android version is distributed separately on Google Play. Some features may be limited depending on your OS version.

What is "DNS protection"?

DNS protection is a privacy feature that blocks connections to tracker domains at the domain level and encrypts your DNS lookups with DNS-over-HTTPS, so that which sites you visit cannot be seen by others on your network or by your ISP. All processing is completed on your device.

Why does the app ask to add a VPN configuration?

To process DNS lookups on the device, iOS requires the use of the VPN (Network Extension) mechanism provided by the OS. However, this is different from a typical VPN that connects to an external VPN server.

  • Everything stays on your device: the tunnel is closed within the device, and your traffic never passes through an outside server.
  • Nothing is collected: your browsing history, the contents of your DNS lookups, and your traffic are never recorded or transmitted.
  • No root certificate: the app never installs a certificate and never decrypts HTTPS traffic.
DNS protection sometimes turns off unexpectedly.

iOS allows only one VPN configuration to be active at a time. When another VPN app starts a connection, this app's DNS protection is turned off automatically. If that happens, simply turn DNS protection back on from the Home screen.

Ads are not blocked in Safari.

Because of how iOS works, blocking ads in Safari requires enabling the extensions. Open the Settings app → "Safari" → "Extensions", enable all of Ad Blocker Pro's extensions, and allow them on "All Websites". The Safari setup guide on the app's Home screen walks you through the steps.

Ads are not blocked and still appear. Why?

Please check whether any of the following apply.

  • The blocking function is turned off
  • The Safari extensions have not been enabled
  • It is a type of ad that is difficult to block by design
  • A cache of a previously shown ad remains

[How to clear the Safari cache]

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap "Safari" (if you cannot find it, go to Settings → Apps → Safari).
  3. Tap "Clear History and Website Data".
Some ads are not blocked.

Some ads are delivered from the same domain as the content itself, or are embedded directly within videos. Such ads cannot always be fully stopped even by content filtering (pre-roll ads on major video sites are a typical example). We continuously update our filters so that we can block as much as possible within what is technically feasible.

Blank spaces sometimes remain on a web page. Won't they disappear?

Normally, ads are placed mixed in with the page's content. When an ad's display element is removed, the space it occupied may remain blank, or the layout may shift and move other elements. This is also a sign that the ad was correctly blocked.

Why is the block count higher than the number of ads I actually saw?

Many apps and sites communicate in the background. DNS protection also blocks lookups to trackers contained in such background communication. In addition, displaying a single page may generate multiple DNS lookups, each of which becomes a block target. That is why the block count can appear higher than the ads you actually saw.

Does the app have a built-in browser?

Yes. Ad Blocker Pro includes a built-in browser optimized for ad blocking. It hides ad elements within the page through content filtering, enabling more comfortable browsing with fewer ads. You can of course continue to use your usual browser as well.

Is there a monthly fee?

No. This app is a one-time purchase, with no monthly or annual billing. No charges arise beyond the initial purchase.

Do you collect personal information or browsing history?

No. Ad blocking and DNS protection are processed entirely on your device, and we do not collect or transmit the sites you visit or the contents of your communications. Statistics such as the block count are also stored only on your device. For details, please see our Privacy Policy.

Can it reduce my data usage?

Yes. By suppressing the loading of ads and unnecessary trackers, you can reduce the amount of data per page, which in turn helps save mobile data. The more ads a site has, the greater the effect.

Where can I report bugs or request features?

Please contact us from the app's Settings → Contact, or email us directly at ifeeqp2002+adblocker@gmail.com. Including your device model, OS version, and the site or situation where the issue occurs will help us respond more smoothly.
